After hitting a low in 2009, visitor spending on Maui has risen tremendously. In 2012 spending increased 18.8% to $3.6 billion. In just December alone, Maui visitors spent $357.8 million. Arrivals via air were up as well for 2012 increasing 5.9%. With all these visitors to our island, tourism based jobs rose 34,000 in 2012. You can read more via mauinow.com here. New for 2014 Princsss Cruise line will be adding a stop in Maui to it’s route. The 680 passenger Pacific Princess will make the stop on it’s way from Tahiti. The cruise will replace the 2014 World Cruise that had previously been announced but has been cancelled. You can view the entire article view mauinow.com here. Open today from 1 pm to 6 pm is the Maui Ukulele Festival. Located at the Pavilion Amphitheater enjoy an afternoon of island music. You can also purchase island foods and crafts at the event.
