Located 12 miles past Hana Town, this National Park can be found after crossing a bridge right before the entrance. There is a visitor center with parking available ($10 per vehicle, also valid for entrance into Haleakala Crater and Summit.) Restrooms and campgrounds are also available.There are several hiking trails in the park, one leads down to the lower pools which form Oheo gulch, better known as “Seven Sacred Pools”. There are in fact, many more than 7 pools and waterfalls that flow through ‘Ohe‘o Gulch and lead down to the ocean.Pipiwai Trail to Waimoku Falls
Pipiwai Trail is a 4 mile roundtrip hiking trail that winds through a fresh water stream and bamboo forest, leading up to 400 ft Waimoku Falls, the tallest waterfalls on Maui. Hiking to the falls is uphill, with a change in elevation of approximately 700 feet over the 2 miles. Breathtaking views and many changes in scenery make it worth it as you hike well worn paths, over bridges and boarded walkways.Guided hikes with a National Park ranger are available on Sunday’s, 10am. Reservation are essential by calling 808-248-7375. Additional guided activities include Nature Talks and Cultural Demonstrations.
