It’s that time again! The Maui Film Festival is happening now and running through June 17th! The festival is taking place at the Celestial Cinema, the Castle Theatre, and the Toes-In-The-Sand Cinema. Screenings and special events will be happening all over the Wailea Resort!
The Maui Film Festival was founded in 2000 by Barry Rivers. Over the course of 17 years, the film festival has screened more than 750 films! What better place to enjoy great movies along with fabulous food events all in a beautiful setting!

It’s that time of year again! Restaurant Week Wailea will be held from May 20th to May 26th! Award winning culinary foods will be available for pre-fixed menu prices ranging from $29 to $59 depending on the restaurant. This event supports the Maui Food Bank. For each pre-fixed entree sold, a contribution is made to the Maui Food Bank. A delicious way to help out a great cause!
19 restaurants will be participating. Reservations are recommended. You can call the restaurant directly, or try and book through OpenTable. Here is a small sampling of what you can expect.
Gannon’s, located at 100 Wailea Golf Club Drive, will be serving a wide variety of ncluding Lemongrass Chicken, organic chicken with fingerling potatoes, Lamb Osso Bucco, with broccolini and sweet potato gnocchi, Cashew Crusted Catch, served in a pineapple red curry sauce, or Pumpkin & Mascarpone Ravioli, served with a pesto sauce and seasonal vegetables. With these options it will be hard to choose just one! Chef Bret Scott Pafford will be sure your taste buds are satisfied!
At Matteo’s Osteria, Executive Chef Matteo Mistura invites you to Italy! Located at 161 Wailea Ike Place below the new Marriot Residence Inn. Some Italian favorites are offered for your choosing. Gnocchi Gorgonzola made with handmade potato gnocchi and aged gorgonzola dolce latte, Lasagna with house made pasta and sausage, or Aqua Pazza a fresh catch with olive, capers, and white wine. Are you getting hungry yet?
Chef Paul Gonzalez of Longhi’s Wailea, located at The Shops of Wailea, will get your mouth watering with their selection of dishes. Choosing only one main dish seems impossible! Island Spiced Ahi with a white wine butter sauce, Shrimp Longhi sautéed in butter, white wine, lemon, and served over garlic crostini, Eggplant Parmesan, Surf & Turf comprised of a petite filet with shrimp torino, or last but not least, Veal Marsala in a sweet dry Marsala wine sauce with mushrooms.
This is the week to indulge in culinary masterpieces and remember you will also be supporting the Maui Food Bank! Bon Appetit!
Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua recently finished their $30 million dollar makeover just in time for its 25 year anniversary! Trinity Investments, the new owners of Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, purchased the resort back in November 2016. The improvements are an effort to meet the needs of their guests. New contemporary furnishings with a Hawaiian feel. Floor-to-ceiling windows, and colors that resemble the ocean. Last on the list of improvements to the resort will be the Banyan Tree And Terrace restaurants.
