~Events Happening This Weekend~

Friday’s weekly town party will  take place this Friday February 10th in Lahaina from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm! Come enjoy local art along with complimentary refreshments. Concerts in Campbell Park by Maui Jam from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and by Arlie Asiu from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The First Annual Pickleball Tournament will be this Saturday February 11 with the clinic starting at 8:45 am. Tournament registration to begin at 10:45 am and tournament start time is scheduled for 11:00 am. This event, hosted by the Maui County Parks and Recreation Department, will provide paddles for participants who don’t have one.  More information including participant waivers available here.

Casanova’s in Makawao is hosting Upcountry Sundays Acoustic Style presented by Mana’o Radio this Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Featured artist include Matt Del Olmo Band, Xander Hitzig, and Thomas Earl.  Cost is $7.00 at the door. Haleakala Sunrise Viewing

Starting today, February 1st, if your planning to enter Haleakala National Park and watch the sunrise your going to need a reservation. Reservation can be made up to sixty days in advance. A car entrance fee of $1.50 applies. You can make your sunrise viewing reservation on the Recreation.gov website here.

This Friday January 27th the Castle Theatre presents singer and folk music icon Judy Collins.  Judy Collins is on tour with special guest Ari Hest.  Her latest release Silver Skies Blue has recently been nominate for a Grammy Award. Collins has been a musical inspiration for 5 decades! Food menu items will be available to purchase at the show.  Show time is 7:30 pm.  More information and ticket purchase available here.

Saturday January 28th the 12 Annual Whale Trust Maui Golf Tournament will be teeing off.  This event is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Maui.  The tournament will feature a continental breakfast, cash prizes, and a luncheon guest speaker. The tournament event is scheduled to run from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.  The Whale Trust Maui website has more information here.

Happening on Sunday January 29th, former Hawaii resident and famed French-American artist Guy Buffet is celebrating his birthday at the 15th Art of Aloha event taking place at the Shops at Wailea.  His works have been celebrated for over 50 years.  Buffets amazing art work will be on display along with seven other artists.  Lahaina Galleries website has more information on this event as well as other events.

~Your Weekend Events~

Tonight January 12th starting at 5:30 pm the Hawaii Farmers Union United is hosting a potluck at Maui Topical Plantation.  There is no fee to attend, however please bring a dish to share. Featured farmers will be on hand to discuss biodynamic farming techniques. This Friday January 13th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm is Lahaina Town Friday party! Come join in the fun with music performed by Maui Jam and line dancing from Keoni’s Dance Studio. Several keiki nonprofits will be fundraising at this event in Campbell Park. Friday night is also Art Night in Lahaina.  The Lahaina Visitors Center has information on participating galleries.  More information available here.

Los Angeles based rock band, Young the Giant, will be performing Saturday January 14th at the Castle Theater starting at 7:30 pm. Formally known as The Jakes, Young the Giant has had numerous top ten hits since their debut album in 2010.
