Humpback Migration Celebration

In Lahaina this weekend both Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm the Whale and Ocean Arts Festival will take place at Banyan Tree. Lots of activities for the entire family including art contest and keiki activities, lei making, and whale research groups on hand offering free education. Marine themed art will be available at the festival for purchase.

This free event will also include live entertainment! Great way to welcome the Whales and enjoy local culture!

Start your Friday celebrating Chinese New Years in Lahaina from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This free event will take place at the Wo Hing Museum on Front St. Come celebrate the Year of The Dog.

Kihei 4th Friday takes place this evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Azeka Shopping Center. Enjoy food booths, free entertainment, crafts, and local shopping! Free parking available.

Community work day available at Kalepolepo Park from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the Ko ie ie Fishpond. Please wear protective gear and bring waters!

Also on Saturday, keep your Chinese New Years celebration going with Makawao Towns 26th Annual Chinese New Year Lion Dance celebration. Event starts at 10:00 am on the corner of Makawao and Baldwin Avenue. The Outlet Of Maui will also be celebrating with a Lion Dance and martial arts demonstration at 4:30 pm.

Great art event to support on Saturday Art Affair is Hui No eau that supports community visual arts. Live and silent auction, music, dancing, and gourmet food all available. Event held at the Kaluanui estate from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Wrap up your weekend Sunday with the Queen Kaahumau Centers Chinese New Year celebration from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Kahului.

Winter Pops featuring Capathia Jenkins will be performing at the Castle Theater at 3:00 pm. Ticket prices vary. Students 18 and under are half price.

Coming Up, Your Weekend Events!

Friday Town Party this Friday September 29th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in Lanai. Roundtrip ferry rides between Lahaina Harbor and Manele Harbor will be available. Live music, food, drinks, prizes and more! There is expected to be over 30 vendors, and food booths will be set up along Dole Park. The Maui Fridays website has information for Lanai Fifth Friday.

Happening now through September 30th, the Chinese Moon Festival is taking place along Front Street.  This week long event is free! A box of 4 moon cakes is $25.00. Flavors include red bean, white lotus, taro, and 5 nuts with egg yolk. Cultural activities like calligraphy and knot tying along with tea and traditional music that the whole family can enjoy. Also on Saturday September 30th, Damian Marley & J Boog will be performing at the A&B Amphitheater with gates opening at 5:00 pm. Show is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm. Food will be available for purchase as well as drinks including beer and wine. General pricing and VIP ticket pricing available. Parking will be available in the MACC lot and the UHMC lot. Earth Day Events

West Maui Greenway has events to help you celebrate Earth Day.  Happening now is their online silent auction.  Great prizes donated by local businesses are available to bid on.  This gives the winner a chance to try out new foods, lodging, and activities at a reduced cost.

On April 22 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Love the West Maui Greenway Day will be taking place at the Lahaina Civic Center.  This event is free and perfect for the entire family.  Live music, food trucks, and family events will be taking place throughout the day. Tonight January 12th starting at 5:30 pm the Hawaii Farmers Union United is hosting a potluck at Maui Topical Plantation.  There is no fee to attend, however please bring a dish to share. Featured farmers will be on hand to discuss biodynamic farming techniques. This Friday January 13th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm is Lahaina Town Friday party! Come join in the fun with music performed by Maui Jam and line dancing from Keoni’s Dance Studio. Several keiki nonprofits will be fundraising at this event in Campbell Park. Friday night is also Art Night in Lahaina.  The Lahaina Visitors Center has information on participating galleries.  More information available here.

Los Angeles based rock band, Young the Giant, will be performing Saturday January 14th at the Castle Theater starting at 7:30 pm. Formally known as The Jakes, Young the Giant has had numerous top ten hits since their debut album in 2010.
