Things To Do This Weekend!

Lots of events going on this weekend!

Start your Friday celebrating Chinese New Years in Lahaina from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This free event will take place at the Wo Hing Museum on Front St. Come celebrate the Year of The Dog.

Kihei 4th Friday takes place this evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Azeka Shopping Center. Enjoy food booths, free entertainment, crafts, and local shopping! Free parking available.

Community work day available at Kalepolepo Park from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the Ko ie ie Fishpond. Please wear protective gear and bring waters!

Also on Saturday, keep your Chinese New Years celebration going with Makawao Towns 26th Annual Chinese New Year Lion Dance celebration. Event starts at 10:00 am on the corner of Makawao and Baldwin Avenue. The Outlet Of Maui will also be celebrating with a Lion Dance and martial arts demonstration at 4:30 pm.

Great art event to support on Saturday Art Affair is Hui No eau that supports community visual arts. Live and silent auction, music, dancing, and gourmet food all available. Event held at the Kaluanui estate from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Wrap up your weekend Sunday with the Queen Kaahumau Centers Chinese New Year celebration from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in Kahului.

Winter Pops featuring Capathia Jenkins will be performing at the Castle Theater at 3:00 pm. Ticket prices vary. Students 18 and under are half price.

This Weekend On Maui

Maui Pride Festival will be going on the entire weekend starting with the Maui Pride Film Festival Friday night October 2nd and concluding Sunday with a beach party.  Various activities for both families or adults only will take place throughout the weekend.  The Maui Pride website has information regarding each activity as well as ticket information if applicable.  Visit their website here.

Saturday October 2nd at Whole Foods Market start celebrating October with Oktoberfest!  Samples of brews and delicious foods will be available.  Must be 21 and over with a valid ID.  The Andaz will be hosting their Oktoberfest on Sunday with a German inspired buffet, and $5.00 draft German beer!  Buffet price is $29.oo.  Come and enjoy drinks, food, and music!

First Sundays at Hula Grill Kaanapali will feature Benny Chong from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.  The Hula Grill music series happens once a month on the first Sunday of each month.  Artist’s are showcased here on the first Sunday.  Benny Chong is an award-winning jazz ukulele player.  For this event as well as other events at the Hula Grill, view their website here.

Coming Up This Weekend!

Friday night September 11th from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm its Art Night in Lahaina Town!  Come to Lahaina and enjoy special gallery shows, refreshments, and watching artists in action.  Stop by the Lahaina Visitors Center and pick up a map of galleries participating in this FREE event!

Saturday September 12th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm the 20th annual Stand For Children Celebration will take place at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Shopping Center.  This free event will feature entertainment with youth and child related performers.  The Maui Family Support Services sponsors this event in the hopes to bring attention to the children and families of the community.  Come out and enjoy the day and show your support!

Also on Saturday, the ongoing restoration of Honokowai occurs every Saturday.  Volunteers meet at 9:00 am at the Puukoli’i Train Station in Lahaina and dedicate 5 hours to restoring the archeological site.  Bring your own lunch, water, protective clothing, and bug repellent.  Groups and families are all welcome and encouraged to participate. Come help care for the land!  Maui Cultural Lands is in charge of this event.  Your help is greatly appreciated!

Coming Up This Weekend

Friday night August 14th is Art Night in Lahaina!  From 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm come enjoy refreshments, see artists in action, and view special gallery showings.  Available in the Lahaina Visitor Center is a map of all the participating galleries.  This is a free event open to the public!

August 15th, Saturday, a benefit diner and performance  by John Crice will take pace at Lumeria Maui in upcountry Makawao.  This event will benefit Whale Trust Maui.  You can learn more about the Whale Trust Maui Organization here.  This event will have dinner, a silent auction and live music featuring Grammy Award winner John Cruz!  Information on the event including purchasing tickets can be found here.

On Sunday August 16th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm the Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation will have pet adoptions at Whole Foods in Kahului Maui.  All these animals are in need of a good home.  Come and rescue your next family pet!

Activities On Maui This Weekend

This weekend the MayJah RayJay music festival will be happening.  This two-day concert event features some island reggae music from artists such as Tarrus Riley, Sons of Zion, Common Kings, Spawnbreezie, just to name a few.  Pricing varies depending on ticket option.  Event will be held at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.  Concert starts at 6:00 pm, with doors opening at 5:00 pm.  For More information, visit the Majay Rayjah event site here.

Saturday the Upcountry Farmers Market will be from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Kulamalu Town Center.  Yummy locally grown foods for purchase including organic produce, coconuts, fresh fish, and raw and vegan foods.  The Upcounty Farmers Market has over 40 local farmers supplying food and produce.  To learn more about what farmers participate, and news about the Farmers Market, you can visit the Upcountry Farmers Market page.

Saturday Night at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort at Pulehu, is having the “Rum Scrum Cocktail Contest”.  This contest benefits the Maui Culinary Academy.  The winner of the contest will have their cocktail featured on the Westin Kaanapali’s menu.  There are 4 finalists in the running.  The winner will be announced on Saturday night.  General admission will begin at 6:00 pm.  More information including purchasing tickets available here.
