Your Weekend Events!

September 1st, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, kick off your weekend with Wailuku First Friday. Market Street will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 5:30 pm. Food will be available from some of Wailuku favorite eateries including Gianotto’s Pizza, 808 On Main, Uptown Chevron and many others! Come and enjoy cooking demonstrations, art gallery opening, live music, and many other fun activities! This is a free family friendly event. Taking place from Saturday, September 2nd through Monday, September 4th the Potters for Life fundraiser to benefit the Pacific Cancer Foundation will take place at Nalu’s in Kihei. Nalu’s is also a sponsor for this event.  All pottery for the fundraiser is made local on Maui. On Sunday, September 3rd enjoy the Champagne Brunch at the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel. Brunch will be served from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and features live entertainment. Food items include waffles, crab legs, pastries, omelets, a carving station, and Hawaiian specialties.  Come enjoy the award-winning brunch that is a favorite of locals and visitors alike! Events Coming Up!

This Saturday July 1st the annual Makawao Rodeo Parade will be taking place. The parade is scheduled to start at 9:00 am. This annual event takes place each year the Saturday before 4th of July! This year events will also include face painting, Makawao merchant window decorating contest, crafts, and the annual rummage sale.  Parking will be available at the Oskie Rice Arena with free shuttle rides from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm. Don’t forget the Chili Cookoff from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm! Attendees will be the judge for Best Chili! And burgers for the not chili people with the affordable list of backyard grills people bring.

Lahaina Town has events throughout the day to help you celebrate the 4th of July! The day will kick off with the Maui Crafters event located at Banyan Tree Park starting at 9:00 am. Banyan Tree Park will also have live music and entertainment throughout the day. Front Street will have face painters, magicians, the classic car showcase, and balloon twisters from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm! Maui Film Festival

The Maui Film Festival will start this Wednesday June 21st and run through Sunday June 25th. The official launch will include a cocktail reception, dinner, and live entertainment.

On Wednesday the 21st, the Celestial Cinema night will include a double feature.  Showings will include Beatriz at Dinner, and Grand Unified Theory.  Connie Britton, four time Emmy nominee will be awarded the Navigator Award.

Thursday the 22nd, starting at 8:00 pm enjoy a viewing of The Big Wave Project A Band of Brothers and Charged The Eduardo Garcia Documentary.  Freida Pinto will be honored with the Shining Star Award.

On Friday the 23rd the Maui chocolate lovers event Taste of Chocolate will proceed the movie showings of Kuleana at 8:00 pm, Poisoning Paradise at 10:00 pm and Given at 11:00 pm.  Pierce Brosnan will receive the Pathfinder Award.

Saturday the 24th the ‘Crown Jewel’ of the festival celebrates the best of Wailea’s Chefs with the Taste of Wailea. Karen Gillan will receive the Rising Star Award, and movies for the evening include A Comedy About Tragedy DEAN, and Class Rank at the Celestial Cinema.  At the Castle Theatre starting at 3:00 pm showings include A Family Man, The Trip To Spain, Mantra, and Fits & Starts.

The Maui Film Festival concludes on Sunday the 25th. At the Celestial Cinema showings starting at 8:00 pm include Proximity, Take Every Wave, and Fish People. At the Castle Theatre starting at 3:00 pm showings include Ram Dass Going Home, Holy (un) Holy River, Heal, and Hare Krishna! Various dining options will also be available throughout the festival.

Kapalua Wine & Food Festival

The 36th Annual Kapalua Wine & Food Festival will be taking place this weekend from June 8th to June 11th. This is the longest running food and wine event in the United States. Taking place at the Kapalua resort, this event was created to showcase fine wines and the culinary talents from international vendors.

Events during the 4 day festival include the Golf Tournament taking place at The Bay Course in Kapalua, cooking demonstration with Andrew Sutton of Disney’s Napa Rose restaurant, cooking demonstration with celebrity chef Cat Cora of Iron Chef, Maui’s top restaurants showcasing seafood at the Seafood Festival and various wine tasting seminars.
