64th Annual Makawao Rodeo

Starting Thursday, July 4th and running through Sunday, July 7th is the 64th Annual Makawao Rodeo at the Oskie Rice Arena. This four day event is a favorite for locals and visitors to attend every year during the 4th of July holiday celebration.

The Makawao Parade is one of the highlights for the event. The parade will take place on Saturday, July 6th starting at 9:00 am. The parade is full of colorful floats, decorated horses, and lots of people marching along the route.

The schedule starts on July 4 with the prelims for the qualifying. On Friday the 5th, it’s BullBash. Gates will open at 4:00 pm with the show scheduled to begin at 6:30. On this day expect a beer garden and food vendors.  On Saturday, July 6th, gates will open at 1:00 pm with the rodeo starting at 3:00 pm. Rodeo events include mugging, barrels, and sheep riding! On the final day Sunday, July 7th, gates will open at 10:00 am and the rodeo will begin at 12:30 pm. Sunday’s events include the finals and awards presentation.

Guests in attendance may want to bring an umbrella for shelter from various weather elements. Seating is provided by bleachers so plan accordingly.

Makawao Rodeo Deadline

The annual Makawao Rodeo Parade will be held this year on July 7th. Applications for participants are now being accepted. Deadline for entry is June 20th and a mandatory meeting will take place on June 27th.

During the parade, Baldwin Avenue will be closed starting at 8:00 am. The parade is scheduled to start at 9:00 am. Some of the categories for judging in this years parade will be Best Parade Horse, Best Mounted Group, Most Unusual Entry, Best Mounted Keiki, and many others!

Events Coming Up!

This Saturday July 1st the annual Makawao Rodeo Parade will be taking place. The parade is scheduled to start at 9:00 am. This annual event takes place each year the Saturday before 4th of July! This year events will also include face painting, Makawao merchant window decorating contest, crafts, and the annual rummage sale.  Parking will be available at the Oskie Rice Arena with free shuttle rides from 7:00 am to 1:30 pm. Don’t forget the Chili Cookoff from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm! Attendees will be the judge for Best Chili! And burgers for the not chili people with the affordable list of backyard grills people bring.

Lahaina Town has events throughout the day to help you celebrate the 4th of July! The day will kick off with the Maui Crafters event located at Banyan Tree Park starting at 9:00 am. Banyan Tree Park will also have live music and entertainment throughout the day. Front Street will have face painters, magicians, the classic car showcase, and balloon twisters from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 8:00 pm! Festivities For Fourth of July

4th of July for many is spent with family and friends celebrating with fireworks displays, delicious food, and entertainment.  Front Street in Lahaina has music, Karaoke, event shirts, and fireworks starting at 8:00 pm.  Many front street restaurants will be offering food and drink specials in celebration.

Another fun activity is the annual Lanai Pineapple Festival!  This two-day event runs on Friday July 4th and Saturday July 5th.  If you didn’t get your fill of fireworks you can see them at the festival starting at 9:00 pm on July 5th.  Enjoy games, crafts, food booths, and entertainment.  For those coming from Maui, make sure to check ferry schedules and make reservations if needed.

Going on now through July 11 in Makawao is the Paniolo Country: A Themed Exhibition.  This art exhibition explores the role of the Hawaiian cowboy.  Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Starting Thursday July 3rd through Sunday July 6th is the Makawao Rodeo.  Enjoy bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and more!  Saturday is the Paniolo Parade with local celebrities and rodeo royalty!  Free shuttle service to the parade is available from 7:00 am to 9:00 am.
