Maui Youth Orchestra

On Aprill 22nd beginning at 3:00 pm, the Maui Youth Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing their Spring concert at the Baldwin High School Auditorium.

Students from 11 public schools, 4 private schools, and one home schooled will be performing. Grades range from second grade through twelfth. They will be performing using staring, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments.

The Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Iolani Yamashiro-Rahimi. Works from greats such as Holst, Beethoven, Johann Strauss, among others will be on the playlist. This is a free event and open to the public!

Makawao Third Friday

This Friday April 20th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm is Makawao Third Friday! This event is a great way to explore the historic town of Makawao!

This Friday’s event will be an Earth Day celebration! Maui’s non-profit green initiatives will be in the Komoda Bakery parking lot. Also on hand will be lots of yummy food trucks, vendor booths, Keiki Zone, arts and crafts, and great entertainment from local artists. This is a fun event for the entire family!

Lahaina Bypass Set To Open April 23rd

On Sunday the controversial southern terminus Lahaina bypass was blessed.  The $48.7 million project runs 2.6 miles. The project will redirect Lahaina bound traffic. This section is scheduled to open on April 23rd.

Not everyone is please with the new traffic redirection. Director Jade Butay has vowed his commitment that any issues that arise from the new bypass will be addressed. The hope for all involved with the project is that the new section will run smoothly once people get used to it.

Maui Steel Guitar Festival

Happening this weekend starting on Friday April 13th and running through Sunday April 15th is the Maui Steel Guitar Festival. The Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel, and on Sunday at the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.

Festivities in Ka’anapali will include jam sessions, workshops, silent auction, guitar exhibit and so much more! Sunday at the Queen Ka’ahumanu vintage steel guitars will be showcased. This event is free to the public!
