Maui Agriculture Festival

Tomorrow, Saturday April 7th, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm is the 11th annual Maui Agriculture Festival. The festival is being held at the Maui Tropical Plantation. Admission is $5 dollars at the door.

This event goes all out! Not only is awareness raised about Maui Agriculture, but there will be delicious food booths, a farmers market with demonstrations, and a keiki zone. The keiki zone will have pony rides and barnyard games along with live entertainment.

This is a great way to spend your Saturday all while showing support for Maui’s Agriculture!

Hydroponic Farm Set To Open This Year

The indoor hydroponic farm is scheduled to open later this year. The Larry Ellison partnership will be able to grow and sell vegetables for cheaper than produce thats imported. Last August Ellison announced the Sensei project on Lanai. Sensei would use automated computer hydroponic farming in large greenhouses.

Also set to reopen later this year is the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele. The property closed in January 2015 in order for extensive renovations to be done totaling approximately $75 million. A new spa and fitness center are among the new amenities the lodge will provide.

Lani is the first Sensei farm for the Los Angeles based company. The first crops will include Black Trifle tomatoes, and Komatsuna mustard greens. We look forward to viewing the completed project!

Ouch! That’s gotta hurt!

Our neighbor, Braves catcher Kurt Suzuki, was hit by a pitch Friday in the hand during the game against the Philadelphia Phillies during the 4th inning. Suzuki was able to remain in the game an additional two innings before finally having to be replaced.

Suzuki is bruised up pretty good. He is hoping to return to the lineup early this week. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Happy Easter!

The Hansen Ohana wishes everyone a very Happy Easter!
