Hansen Ohana Annual Toy Drive

Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues:

The Holiday Season is once again upon us. The Hansen Ohana is having their annual Toy Drive!

Toys and monetary donations help serve the Friends of The Children’s Justice Center. Donations go directly to children in need. With your kind donations, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center provide over 1,600 holiday gifts each season to children, many under foster care, children of Women Helping Women, etc.  For many children, this will be the only gift they receive for the holidays. Your donations will make a difference.

Donations can be made at our office during normal business hours at The Town Center Suite, 161 Wailea Ike Place, Suite A-106 in Wailea next to Matteo’s Osteria Restaurant or call and we will be more than happy to pick it up.

Mahalo for your continued support!

Kihei Charter School New Campus

Tuesday was the first day on the new campus for Kihei Charter School. The campus is now located at the top of the Maui Research and Technology Park.

The new space is more than double the previous school location. The property is located on 3 acres, and host students from grades kindergarten through high school. Due to limited funds and expired leases, most students have had limited in classroom classes since August, but have been learning through virtual school online.

Teachers formally had to share classrooms and offices were limited. With the new building not only will teachers get their own classrooms, but the band will have their own designated band room for practice. Other possibilities to add to the school include a fitness center with workout equipment.

Parts of the school are still under construction. As the needs of the school change they will have options of how to utilize the extra space. If your interested in donating to help the school, they are currently in need of cooking equipment.

Good News!

Good News! The Hawaii State governments attempt to find clever new ways to tax us has been thwarted by the Hawaii High Court.  Historically the four counties of Hawaii charge a tax on real estate to run the county.  The State tried to grab part of that tax by charging it’s own tax on real estate.  They promised to spend it on education but as we all know it never happens.  To help the children many people feel they should eliminate the top-heavy State education department and pay the teachers a living wage and fix up our aging schools.
