Kuhio Day Celebration

On Sunday April 1st starting at 7:00 am, the Kuhio Day Celebration will be taking place at the University of Hawaii Maui College in Kahului. The celebration is in honor of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana`ole whose birthday is on March 26th and is a state holiday.

The festivities include all day entertainment, foods, crafts, games, farmers market, jumping castle, and an art contest for keiki. Cultural demonstrations and community information booths will also be happening at the festival.

Students Win Trip To Japan

Students from across the state competed in the 15th annual Japan Wizards Statewide Academic Team Competition. The completion is a full day of academic tests on a variety of Japan related topics. The Japan-America Society of Hawaii is the sponsor of this competition.

Teams from both King Kekaulike High School Level A and B and Maui Preparatory Academy Level A won trips to Japan. Maui Preparatory also received the 2018 Michael Leineweber Award. Congratulations to all the students and enjoy your trip to Japan!

Maui High School Teacher Receives Top Honor

Maui High School Teacher Keith Imada received the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award at the FIRST in Hawaii Robotics Competition. To be considered for the award, you must be nominated by students. To win the award, you must be considered an outstanding leader who inspires and empowers their team.

This is Keith Imada first time receiving this award. He is now a finalist to receive the national award. All this years regional and district winners will be up against Imada at the Houston World Championships in April.
