Coming Up This Weekend

On Friday, August 21st, the Haliimaile Farmers Market will take place at Haliimaile Town Center from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  This free event will feature local produce as well as crafts from local artists.  Anyone interested in promoting their local community organization or non-profit booths are available at no charge!

Soul Kitchen will be performing for the first time at Charley’s in Paia this Saturday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Cost for this event is $10.00 per ticket.  Tickets will be available from purchase at the door.  For more information on Soul Kitchen including photos, bio, and future events, visit their website here.

Burgers and Brews will be having a cooking class at Sugar Beach Events in Kihei on Sunday, August 23rd, from 5:30 pm tp 9:00 pm.  This is the fourth cooking class in the Cooking on Maui with Chef Lee series.  This is a 21 and over event.  Price is $95.00 per person and reservations are required.  Chef Lee will be taking the traditional burger and adding new and exciting flavors to it.  The Sugar Beach Events website has information on the event here.

Coming Up This Weekend

Friday night August 14th is Art Night in Lahaina!  From 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm come enjoy refreshments, see artists in action, and view special gallery showings.  Available in the Lahaina Visitor Center is a map of all the participating galleries.  This is a free event open to the public!

August 15th, Saturday, a benefit diner and performance  by John Crice will take pace at Lumeria Maui in upcountry Makawao.  This event will benefit Whale Trust Maui.  You can learn more about the Whale Trust Maui Organization here.  This event will have dinner, a silent auction and live music featuring Grammy Award winner John Cruz!  Information on the event including purchasing tickets can be found here.

On Sunday August 16th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm the Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation will have pet adoptions at Whole Foods in Kahului Maui.  All these animals are in need of a good home.  Come and rescue your next family pet!

Events on Maui This Weekend

Kick off the weekend Friday night August 7th with the Huliau Food and Film Festival.  From 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm this festival features local chefs and films made by students.  The event takes place at Seabury Hall on the lower lawn.  200 tickets will be available for those 21 years of age and older.  Tickets are priced at $85.00.  This fundraiser will benefit Maui Huliau Foundation for Maui’s youth.  View more information via the Maui Huliau Foundation website here.

On Saturday August 8th it’s family day at Hui Noeau.  Approximately 250 of Maui’s talented youth artist with be showcased at this event.  This event runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center.  Bring the entire family to this free event.  There will be a bake sale, live glass blowing, face painting, and hands on workshop demonstrations. On Sunday August 9th, the Italian American Club will be hosting its 21st annual picnic event. from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  The event will take place at Villa Vitale, 45 Welina Place, Makawao in Kula.  Come enjoy Italian cuisine and Italian conversation.  Those attending are encouraged to participate in the meatball cook-off event!  The picnic is a family affair all are welcome!  More information available via the Italian American Club website here.

Whats Happening On Maui This Weekend

Start your weekend off with the Lanai Fifth Friday this Friday July 31st!  This town party only happens four times a year.  The event will take place at Dole Park from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  There will be lots of food and drinks plus live music.  Expeditions Ferry will be having a special late night ferry that will leave Lanai at 9:30.  Various travel packages available for your needs.  Fifth Friday Lanai website has all the information regarding this event.

If you’re looking for home goods, clothing,  or hand-made products, you may want to check out the Maui Swap Meet this Saturday August 1st, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Entry fee is only .50 cents!  This is Maui’s largest flea market.  Held in Kahului at the University of Hawaii-Maui College.  Information for anyone interested in becoming a vendor, or if you’re in need of directions, visit the Maui Swap Meet site here.

This Sunday August 2nd the 3rd annual Chili Appreciation Society International Hawaii State Chili Championship Cookoff will be happening from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Entry for this event is free, however, if you wish to vote for People’s Choice you may purchase a $5.00 chili tasting kit.  The cook off will take place at Ulupalakua Ranch.  The festivities will include live music and a popsicle eating contest!  Shaka Pops Maui sponsors this event.  View more information here.

Activities On Maui This Weekend

This weekend the MayJah RayJay music festival will be happening.  This two-day concert event features some island reggae music from artists such as Tarrus Riley, Sons of Zion, Common Kings, Spawnbreezie, just to name a few.  Pricing varies depending on ticket option.  Event will be held at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.  Concert starts at 6:00 pm, with doors opening at 5:00 pm.  For More information, visit the Majay Rayjah event site here.

Saturday the Upcountry Farmers Market will be from 7:00 am to 11:00 am at the Kulamalu Town Center.  Yummy locally grown foods for purchase including organic produce, coconuts, fresh fish, and raw and vegan foods.  The Upcounty Farmers Market has over 40 local farmers supplying food and produce.  To learn more about what farmers participate, and news about the Farmers Market, you can visit the Upcountry Farmers Market page.

Saturday Night at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort at Pulehu, is having the “Rum Scrum Cocktail Contest”.  This contest benefits the Maui Culinary Academy.  The winner of the contest will have their cocktail featured on the Westin Kaanapali’s menu.  There are 4 finalists in the running.  The winner will be announced on Saturday night.  General admission will begin at 6:00 pm.  More information including purchasing tickets available here.
