Blossoms For The Brave

There will be a community lei making event this Friday on the county building front lawn starting at 9:00 am and ending at 12:00 pm. The goal is to make more than 2,870 leis to place on the graves of the Maui Veterans on Memorial Day.

A free shuttle bus will be available starting pick up at 8:30 am from the Ichiro Maehara Baseball Stadium. Last shuttle drop off will be at 12:30 pm. Live music provided by Kevin Kanemoto & Friends and Kathy Collins will be hosting throughout.

Anyone able to make flower donations, please drop them off after 7:30 am Friday at the South High Street Parking Lot. Other materials that are needed include green ti leaves, crown flowers, orchids, bozu flowers, plumeria, bougainvillea flowers, and other flowers study enough to be sewn.

Maui Barrio Fiesta

This Friday May 25th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturday May 26th from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm the 49th Annual Maui Barrio Fiesta will be held at the Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center. This is a free event!

Celebrate Filipino culture with food, games, prizes, demonstrations, and more. Live entertainment and karaoke! Enter one of the contests available. Best barrio wear costume, greased pole, or “Eat Da Pansit”! A fun event for the entire family!

Restaurant Week Wailea

It’s that time of year again! Restaurant Week Wailea will be held from May 20th to May 26th! Award winning culinary foods will be available for pre-fixed menu prices ranging from $29 to $59 depending on the restaurant. This event supports the Maui Food Bank. For each pre-fixed entree sold, a contribution is made to the Maui Food Bank. A delicious way to help out a great cause!

19 restaurants will be participating. Reservations are recommended. You can call the restaurant directly, or try and book through OpenTable. Here is a small sampling of what you can expect.

Gannon’s, located at 100 Wailea Golf Club Drive, will be serving a wide variety of ncluding Lemongrass Chicken, organic chicken with fingerling potatoes, Lamb Osso Bucco, with broccolini and sweet potato gnocchi, Cashew Crusted Catch, served in a pineapple red curry sauce, or Pumpkin & Mascarpone Ravioli, served with a pesto sauce and seasonal vegetables. With these options it will be hard to choose just one! Chef Bret Scott Pafford will be sure your taste buds are satisfied!

At Matteo’s Osteria, Executive Chef Matteo Mistura invites you to Italy! Located at 161 Wailea Ike Place below the new Marriot Residence Inn. Some Italian favorites are offered for your choosing. Gnocchi Gorgonzola made with handmade potato gnocchi and aged gorgonzola dolce latte, Lasagna with house made pasta and sausage, or Aqua Pazza a fresh catch with olive, capers, and white wine. Are you getting hungry yet?

Chef Paul Gonzalez of Longhi’s Wailea, located at The Shops of Wailea, will get your mouth watering with their selection of dishes.  Choosing only one main dish seems impossible! Island Spiced Ahi with a white wine butter sauce, Shrimp Longhi sautéed in butter, white wine, lemon, and served over garlic crostini, Eggplant Parmesan, Surf & Turf comprised of a petite filet with shrimp torino, or last but not least, Veal Marsala in a sweet dry Marsala wine sauce with mushrooms.
