Blossoms For The Brave

There will be a community lei making event this Friday on the county building front lawn starting at 9:00 am and ending at 12:00 pm. The goal is to make more than 2,870 leis to place on the graves of the Maui Veterans on Memorial Day.

A free shuttle bus will be available starting pick up at 8:30 am from the Ichiro Maehara Baseball Stadium. Last shuttle drop off will be at 12:30 pm. Live music provided by Kevin Kanemoto & Friends and Kathy Collins will be hosting throughout.

Anyone able to make flower donations, please drop them off after 7:30 am Friday at the South High Street Parking Lot. Other materials that are needed include green ti leaves, crown flowers, orchids, bozu flowers, plumeria, bougainvillea flowers, and other flowers study enough to be sewn.

Your support and donations are greatly appreciated!

Wailea Retains Top Spot

Wailea is the top rated destination for visitors according to Expedia.com. This is the second year Wailea has held the top spot.

More than 4,600 destinations were reviewed. Kihei was ranked 23rd and Lahaina was ranked 24th. Reviewers voted on Expedia throughout 2017.

Congratulations on all the cities that were recognized!

Lahaina Bypass Update

The Lahaina bypass will now be known as Route 3000 according to an announcement made by the Department of Transportation. A common name will be given at a later date.

As of May 11th, the Southern Connector Road will be open. Maalaea bound traffic will no longer have to be routed up Kai Hele Ku Street. Delineators were installed on Keane Street to keep traffic flowing onto the Honoapiilani Highway. Traffic was backing up due to drivers stopping at the intersection.

Maui Bus has reported a 10 to 12 min saving in time on the once one-hour run. We will keep you updated on any new developments as they become available.
