Festivities For Fourth of July

4th of July for many is spent with family and friends celebrating with fireworks displays, delicious food, and entertainment.  Front Street in Lahaina has music, Karaoke, event shirts, and fireworks starting at 8:00 pm.  Many front street restaurants will be offering food and drink specials in celebration.

Another fun activity is the annual Lanai Pineapple Festival!  This two-day event runs on Friday July 4th and Saturday July 5th.  If you didn’t get your fill of fireworks you can see them at the festival starting at 9:00 pm on July 5th.  Enjoy games, crafts, food booths, and entertainment.  For those coming from Maui, make sure to check ferry schedules and make reservations if needed.

Going on now through July 11 in Makawao is the Paniolo Country: A Themed Exhibition.  This art exhibition explores the role of the Hawaiian cowboy.  Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Starting Thursday July 3rd through Sunday July 6th is the Makawao Rodeo.  Enjoy bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and more!  Saturday is the Paniolo Parade with local celebrities and rodeo royalty!  Free shuttle service to the parade is available from 7:00 am to 9:00 am.

Wailea Beach Marriott Under Agreement

Sunstone Hotel Investors have entered into an agreement with Wailea Beach Marriott to purchase the luxury resort for a net price of $325.7 million.  Sunstone Hotel Investors plan to renovate during 2015 and 2016.  CEO Ken Cruse feels the Wailea Beach Marriott is one of the most attractive leisure destinations in the U.S.

Luau’s

A popular activity that most Maui vacationers want to experience is a luau.  Most of the hotels on the island offer their own luau’s which is nice since your alcoholic beverages are included in the pricing.

For a family friendly luau, Ka’anapali Beach Luau offers kids 5 and under are free.  The buffet style luau serves pork, fish, steak, fresh greens, and a desert bar.  Be entertained by luau dancers and listen to music influenced by Don Ho and Elvis.   The dramatic finale includes fire knife dancers!

For those looking for a more romantic experience, The Feast at Lele is the luau for you.  Feast at Lele is located in Lahaina.  This four course gourmet meal is a Polynesian celebration is served directly to you at your table.  While feasting on your dinner, enjoy the dances representing each part of the Polynesian island inspired dish.

The Hyatt Luau is the best for kids.  Kids are often invited onstage to participate in hula lessons.  This luau is also served buffet style.  Menu includes fish, pork, chicken, rice, soba noodles, tropical fruits and a desert bar.  The open bar includes fruit punch. mai tais, beer, wine, and mixed cocktails.

Kapalua Wine and Food Festival

The 33rd annual Kapalua Wine and Food Festival is happening now!  Enjoy not only fine wine but fine foods as well.  Since the first event in 1981, the festival has grown to incorporate fine dining experiences as well as cooking demonstrations, a golf tournament, tennis clinics and much more.  This year the Kapalua Wine and Food Festival grand finale on Sunday will showcase 15 of Maui’s top chefs for the Seafood Festival.

Wailea Makena Tour of Homes
