Central Kihei Water Shutdown

Please be advised. The Department of Water Supply will be working on a waterline today from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some residents may experience disruptions in their water service.

Some areas affected include but are not limited to: Kanani Road, South Kihei Road, Kanoe Street, Auhana Road, Keala Place, and Alahele Place.

Once water service has returned, be sure to flush your water lines. Try to adjust your water usage today and store water if possible.

Maui Barrio Fiesta

This Friday May 25th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturday May 26th from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm the 49th Annual Maui Barrio Fiesta will be held at the Binhi at Ani Filipino Community Center. This is a free event!

Celebrate Filipino culture with food, games, prizes, demonstrations, and more. Live entertainment and karaoke! Enter one of the contests available. Best barrio wear costume, greased pole, or “Eat Da Pansit”! A fun event for the entire family!

Outstanding Older American Awards

Maui County has named two citizens for their 2018 Outstanding Older American Award. Congratulations to Clara Felix of Kihei and William Kinaka of Wailuku.

Clara has been a dedicated volunteer for the past 15 years. She has volunteered for such organizations as Pacific Whale Foundation, Maui Arts & Cultural Center, and the National Kidney Foundation among many others!

William has been a volunteer for the past 39 years. He has been a volunteer to such organizations as Boy Scouts of America, Maui Adult Day Care Centers, Maui Judicial Court System, and Bank of Hawaii just to name a few.

This award is part of the May Older Americans celebration. The awards ceremony was on May 10th. Congratulations again to you both!

Wailea Retains Top Spot

Wailea is the top rated destination for visitors according to Expedia.com. This is the second year Wailea has held the top spot.

More than 4,600 destinations were reviewed. Kihei was ranked 23rd and Lahaina was ranked 24th. Reviewers voted on Expedia throughout 2017.
