Sunstone Hotel Investors have entered into an agreement with Wailea Beach Marriott to purchase the luxury resort for a net price of $325.7 million. Sunstone Hotel Investors plan to renovate during 2015 and 2016. CEO Ken Cruse feels the Wailea Beach Marriott is one of the most attractive leisure destinations in the U.S.

The 15th annual Maui Film Festival kicks off this Wednesday June 4th and runs until Sunday June 8th. The festival will host award ceremonies on certain days as well as screenings of films, and delicious culinary events at various locations. Film festival line up information is available here.

Over $305 million in funds is being released for improvements to the roadway and also for rental car facility at the Kahului Airport. The new Consolidated Car Rental Facility will be more convenient for travels and help with traffic congestion at the airport. Other improvements expected at the site include a people mover system, customer service building, roadway connections to and from the terminal, and employee parking spaces. Maui, Hawaii – Leading The Hansen Ohana Real Estate Group of Maui Estates International, LLC sales associates Bob and Donna Hansen were awarded the distinction of “Christie’s International Real Estate Luxury Specialist for 2014.” The Christie’s International Real Estate and Christie’s Education specialist designation was awarded recently at the Top Agents Conference in Scottsdale, AZ.
Bob and Donna were identified as one of the 140 most successful real estate professionals in the Christie’s International Real Estate network, the world’s leading network of real estate brokerages and the real estate arm of Christie’s auction house. Criteria for participation in the conference included a requirement that each attendee be among the top 10% of sales for his or her Affiliate brokerage.

Construction for the new 200 room Piilani Suites, located in Wailea, is scheduled to begin by February 29, 2017. The new hotel project will bring in an estimated 260 jobs over the course of the 18 month long job. The new hotel will be managed by Marriott International.
