Maui Brewers Festival 2014

I hope your ready for a fun filled Saturday afternoon!  This Saturday May 17th from 4 pm to 7 pm is the Maui Brewers Festival.  Proceeds from the festival benefit the arts and cultural programs at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

Sample some of the best beers made in Hawaii while listening to live music and enjoying appetizers from local eateries.  Must be 21 or over to attend this event. For information on ticket packages as well as menus, visit mauiarts.org.  Have a fun and safe time, please don’t drink and drive.

The Hansen Ohana wants to wish everyone a Happy Mothers Day!  Today is a great day to show that special mother in your life some extra attention!  There are many brunches and entertainment going on in Maui.

Sheraton Maui Resort has a champagne brunch featuring live music and a buffet suitable for kids!

The Westin Maui has a special Mothers Day Luau Show.  Held oceanfront at the Aloha Pavilion selections include chicken, sirloin, and mahi plus delicious desserts!  Mothers day spa packages are also available.

The Wailea Resort brunch available from 11 am to 3 pm has a special Keiki Korner, a Seafoood Bar, and sushi!  Quite the elaborate spread!

Maui Spa Retreat has a variety of a la carte treatments as well as messages, spa treatments and wraps.  A wonderfully relaxing experience in Upcountry!

Flowers are always a good way to bring a smile to someone special.  Haleakala Florist has a beautiful array of flower arrangements just for Mothers Day!

This Saturday May 10th Seabury Hall Annual Craft Fair

The 41st annual Seabury Craft Fair is this Saturday May 10th from 9 am to 4 pm.  An annual tradition held each year before Mother’s day.  Enjoy good food, live entertainment, and arts and crafts from over 100 local artist.  All proceed benefit the Seabury Hall Financial Aide program.  Admission is $5, children 12 and under are fee.  Come enjoy a wonderful Saturday in beautiful Upcountry.  For more information regarding the event, visit the Seabury Hall website here.

May Lei Day Today

The very first Lei Day was held May 1, 1927.  This now annual event is celebrated across the islands with music, food, and festivals taking place.  Each island has a different type of lei that is worn for the celebration.  Maui celebrates with the lokelani Lei.  A light pink sweetly scented flower.

Here on Maui, the celebration will continue through Friday with a concert by Brothers Cazimero at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.  This is a May Lei Day annual tradition.  Concert time is 7:30 pm.

Tips On Visiting Haleakala, Maui

Haleakala is one of Maui’s most sought after activities for those visiting and residing on the island.  The volcano sits 10,023 feet above sea level.  Many people visiting choose to watch the sunrise early in the morning.  If your an early riser, wear warm layers and bring breakfast.  Food is not sold in the park so make sure to stock up if your planning to stay past sunrise.  Weather conditions are rather chilly, make sure to bring pants, shoes and layers!

There is plenty to do for the explorer.  With lush trails throughout the park, people enjoy hiking as well as horseback riding. Some hiking expeditions can last for three days and include camping.  The park contains many endangered wildlife.  You may delight in seeing the Nene, or Hawaiian goose, Hawaii’s state bird, or a flowering silversword blossom that take 50 years to bloom.
