Restaurant Week Wailea

Restaurant Week Wailea will start next week on May 19th and conclude on May 25th. For every prefixed entree purchased from participating restaurants during this semi-annual event, a donation is made to the Maui Food Bank.

21 restaurants will be providing preset 3 course menus available at a fixed rate ranging from $29-$59 per person. Reservations are suggested and can be made directly through the restaurant or via OpenTable. No tickets or purchasing passes needed!

Some of the restaurants participating include Gannon’s, Monkeypod, Mulligan’s On The Blue, Nick’s Fish Market, Longhi’s Wailea and so many more! This is a great opportunity to try a new restaurant or visit one of your favorites all while supporting the Maui Food Bank!

Picnic For Poki

On Thursday, May 16, Roselyn Place and Ola Na Mele Productions will present Picnic for Poki at the Historic Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku Town. Event will begin at 11:00 am and is held to honor the late Allen “Bradded Poki” Pokipala who was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music..

Hawaiian music will be performed by Ernest Pua’a. Pua’a was born in Oahu before moving to Maui in the late 70’s. His father taught him to play the guitar while his mother taught him how to sing. Pua’a is a sought after musician on Maui performing at weddings and various venues.

Refreshments including cookies and coffee from Roselyn Place kitchen will be available. Bring a lunch and a lawn chair. This is a free event open to the public!

Seabury Hall’s 46th Annual Craft Fair

This Sunday, May 11th, Seabury Hall will be hosting their 46th annual craft fair! The fair is scheduled from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Seabury campus located at 480 Olinda Rd., Makawao. Admission is $5 for adults with children 12 and under free!

The fair is held annually in support of the schools scholarship program. This is also a great place to find a unique gift for Mother’s Day! Shoppers will find art, jewelry, and clothing items among other things. There will also be a silent auction, and a rummage sale. Live music will be playing in multiple spots throughout the campus, not to mention a very expansive food court! Kids will be happy to play on the giant waterslide, participate in games, have their face painted, and jump in the bouncy castle.

Median Home Prices Set Record

Single family home prices set a record according to the Realtors Association of Maui. In April the median sale price was $819,500. This is the first time since 1993 that median prices have broken the $800,000 mark.

Kapalua had the biggest home sale in April at $3.3 million, with the majority of home sales in Wailuku coming in at a median price of $702,290. Median condo sale prices came in at $440,000.  The most expensive condo sale came in Kapalua at $2.9 million. Largest number of condos sold were located in Kihei at a median price of $429,000.

Pending sales also increased for single family homes to 24.2%. with pending condo sales declining 4.8%. Both single family homes and condominiums had a decrease in days on the market. Single family homes decreased 22.3% and condos 12.1%.
