New Travel Reopening Date

Aloha All-

Great news regarding travel to Maui (without a 14-day quarantine) from the Mainland US beginning October 15, 2020 with a valid negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours before arrival on Maui.  See link below.   While we are still experiencing Covid-19 cases worldwide it appears that we are finding a way forward while medical doctors are having success in curing most Covid-19 cases.  We will hopefully have a vaccine available in the next few months.

Below is a quick synopsis from the Maui Chamber of Commerce.

Governor Ige Announces New Travel Reopening Date

Governor Ige just announced that the new date to launch the Trans-Pacific pre-travel test program is now October 15th. They are currently working with various partners including CVS and Kaiser Permanente on these tests and creating a digital platform.

Lieutenant Governor Green provided an overview of the process:

  • Arriving passengers will be exempt from the 14-day quarantine if they take a test no more than 72 hours in advance of travel and test negative for COVID-19.
  • The test must be a NAAT test conducted in a certified lab.
  • If test results are not available at the time of arrival, visitors will have to remain in quarantine until they get the test results.
  • This pre-travel test policy will include children of all ages.
  • Visitors will be responsible for the cost of the test.

We hope to see you soon on Maui.  Let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Call or email.

Upcountry Forestland Acquired By The State

As reported by Maui News, over 3,000 acres of upcountry land has been purchased by the state. The plans for the land include trails for hiking, picnic spots, and forests excursions. Reforestation is also a top priority which will provide clean drinking water to Makawao residents.

Public use of the area is most likely at least a year out.

Pre-Travel Testing Update

Hawaii’s Governor Ige extended the  Mid-Pacific Pre-Travel Testing until at least October 1!

Unfortunately there has been an increase in Covid 19 cases which has the government concerned.  The population, like most places, has differing opinions about wearing masks vs not wearing masks. For our ways of dealing with the regulations email us at dad@MauiRealEstate.net.
