The Merrie Monarch festival began it’s week long series of events yesterday March 31. The festival is a celebration of the arts and culture of Hawaii. The first festival took place in 1963 and has since become a yearly tradition passed on from generation to generation. The festival brings together hula instructors, researchers, and professors of Hawaiian studies to teach new generations the arts and dances that make the Hawaiian culture so unique and special. Asian Art Week Totals Over $80 Million
Christie’s New York held it’s Asian Art Sale the week of March 19th. Upon it’s conclusion on March 22nd, sales totals had reached over $80 million. Over the four days, 8 sales events took place. Masterpieces from early Tibet, Japanese and Korean Art, as well as Huanghuali Furniture were all featured. Christie’s led the way not only in sales but in quality as well. Great News On St. Patricks Day! Condo Sales Up!
Wishing you a very Happy St. Patricks Day! Condo sales reached a 5 year high in February topping the previous high of 98 condos sold in 2011. Last month saw a total of 100 condos sold compared to January sales of 62 condos sold. Kihei led the way for condo sales with 35. Not only did the sales rise, meridian prices rose as well. The meridian condo price in February of $364,960 was a nice jump from January’s meridian price of $292,000. Home prices also saw a rise in the market. Largest Hawaiian Film Studio Right Here In Maui
Maui Film Studios LLC has begun outfitting a 21,000 warehouse building located at the Maui Lani Village Center. The facility will have office space, a parking lot, space for trailers and a mill shop. The hope is for the studio to be up and running with a film or TV production shooting by late summer.
