Maui Starting To Sizzle With Excitement!

With the potential of having tourists start arriving on Maui as of October 15th,  businesses plan on returning to action, preparing for opening and providing aloha to visitors.  It’s wonderful to see enthusiasm and hope resume with United Airlines and others offering rapid test results on the day one leaves to Maui,  people are making plans to take a break and enjoy the Island.  Following is the most current list of what hotels and restaurants are targeting for opening.

Wailea Tennis Club – Open

Wailea Blue Course – Closed  July 6th UNTIL economic conditions allow to reopen

Wailea Gold & Emerald Golf Courses – Open

Wailea Kitchen (formerly Joe’s at Wailea Tennis Center) NOW OPEN Daily dine in & carry out  3p–9p

Gannon’s – No date yet

Mulligans – will continue carry out and drive in . Will OPEN for DINE IN and BEVERAGES on Sundays “AS Longhis-October 2nd

**** First Hawaiian Bank Wailea  Branch will permanently  close on Monday, November 30, 2020.   We have been advised that the ATM will remain OPEN.

Hawaii Named Happiest State

Congratulations Hawaii! As reported by Travel + Leisure, a study conducted by Wallethub has named the state the Happiest State of 2020. Wallethub has been doing this study for the Happiest State since 2014. This is the first year conducting the study during a pandemic.

Categories used for measuring happiness include emotional and physical well-being, work environment and community environment. Rounding out the top five were Utah, Minnesota, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Pre-Travel Testing Update

Hawaii’s Governor Ige extended the  Mid-Pacific Pre-Travel Testing until at least October 1!

Unfortunately there has been an increase in Covid 19 cases which has the government concerned.  The population,like most places, has differing opinions about wearing masks vs not wearing masks. For our ways of dealing with the regulations email us at dad@MauiRealEstate.net.

Recycling Pays Off!

The Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute will be the recipients of almost $15,000 for collecting and recycling fishing nets from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. These nets will be shipped to Oahu and converted to energy. The program goal is convert up to 6 tons of nets.

Collection bins will be places in Maalaea next month. Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute has been working on installing and implementing a recycling program since 2018 installing recycle bins around the island. To date hey have installed 37 bins and have collected more then 20 miles of fishing line.

The Maui community can help by putting old fishing line in one of the recycling bins. If you see a sick or injured sea turtle please report it to the sea turtle response line 808-286-2549.
