Lots Happening This Holiday Weekend!
The Makawao Stampede 2023 is scheduled for today, Friday, June 30th, and it will feature an exciting array of activities. The day begins at 7:00 AM with the Rodeo Qualifier, when competitors vie for the opportunity to show off their talents. The Oskie Rice Arena will host this free portion of the event. The location will be made ready for the evening events after the qualification. At 4:00 PM, the gates will reopen, and there will be more merchants, food trucks, and entertainment for the crowd. The much-anticipated Country Concert will start at 5:00 PM, and the Bull Bash will start at 7:00 PM. General admission tickets are $45.00; discounted pricing are available for Kapuna (60 years and older), youth (5–12), and under-5s (free entrance). Happening now! The Maui Film Festival has begun! Up to two children under the age of 12 can enter for free with each paying adult under a special deal for youngsters. Parental discretion is encouraged, although it’s crucial to understand that the films being screened at the festival are not rated. On days when there is a film festival, the MACC Box Office will open at 1:00 pm for Stardust Cinema window sales and will call services. On days without a show, the phone lines will also open at 1:00.All seating is open to the public, regardless of location. For the A&B Amphitheater lawn, attendees are urged to bring low-back beach chairs or blankets. There will be some limited kupuna (elderly sitting) and bleacher space at the back of the amphitheater. Although they cannot bring their own, attendees can buy food and drinks at the event.

Enjoy the spirit of Makawao this Saturday!
This year’s Makawao Parade, which kicks off a week-long celebration before the Makawao Stampede Rodeo, is returning. The parade departs from Makawao Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Saturday and ends at Makani Road. A stick horse race for adults and kids will take place at 8 a.m. in front of the Designing Wahine Emporium on Baldwin Avenue, among other exciting activities. During the parade, there will be road restrictions. Baldwin Avenue will close from Kee Road to Makawao Avenue at 7:45 a.m., and the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Olinda Road will close to Makani Road at 8:45 a.m.
At 1 p.m., the Oskie Rice Events Center hosts the Makawao Stampede Fest Country Concert following the procession. Renowned performers including Melveen Leed, Waylon Nihipali, Above Snake Country, Pa’ani Olos, and TJ Fevella with the Plantation Kids will perform for the audience. A variety of fun events are planned throughout the week, including a cowboy barbecue on Tuesday at Stopwatch Bar & Grill, a chili challenge on Wednesday at the Oskie Rice Arena, and discounts on steaks at Casanova Maui on Monday. Live music, snacks, and free vanilla ice cream for kids are all part of the “Music on the Lawn” celebration on Thursday near Designing Wahine. On Friday at 9 a.m. at the Oskie Rice Arena, free rodeo qualifications kick off the Makawao Stampede Rodeo. The gates open at 4, a country concert starts at 5, and a bull fight starts at 7.
