Uma Kai of Kai Kompany will be hosting Art with Aloha at this Friday July 15th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center. This free event is a great way to watch and learn about the art of tool and weapon making from local Native Hawaiian artists. Event goers are encouraged to ask questions. More information available here.
Also on Friday July 15th from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm, the Obon Dance Festival will be taking place at the Kahului Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Obon season honors the spirits of those passed. Festival will include dancing, food booths, taiko drummers and lots of festivities! There is no charge for this event.
On Saturday July 16th, come out to Sugar Beach and help at this month’s beach clean up event. Volunteers who come out to help will receive lunch and refreshments donated by local restaurants. Clean up time starts at 9:00 am. Be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water. All clean up supplies will be provided. This event is organized by Maui Surfrider. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Enjoy the remainder of your week and weekend!
