Greg Kaufman, Founder of Pacific Whale Foundation, lost his struggle Saturday with brain cancer. Kaufman started the foundation back in 1980. During that time, only an estimated 800 whales would visit Maui. Today, due to the efforts of Kaufman, approximately 10,000 whales visit Maui each season.
Pacific Whale Foundation started out with small boats giving informative whale talks and Kaufman would give lectures at local hotels. Selling t-shirts was a means for research money. To date, the company has an estimated 200 employees.
Farewell Greg Kaufman an Mahalo Nui Loa for your dedication to the Pacific Whale Foundation.
