Hawaii’s Economy

This morning, Howard Dicus of KHNL stated that the State Economist are still positive about the Net Economic outlook with a 1.7% growth even thought they believe that Domestic tourism may diminish some.  This is subject, of course, expected only if Japanese and other International  tourist return to the Islands.

Whale Count

Volunteers from the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Ocean Count and Pacific Whale Foundation’s Great Whale Count recorded 997 whale sightings on four Hawaiian islands on Saturday. During the day’s count, a total of 596 whales were spotted on Maui, 232 on Oahu, 105 on Hawaii island, and 64 on Kauai. Three times a year, during the height of whale season, the counts are conducted.

Events Coming Up

Traffic Light Moving Forward

The corner of Okolani and Piilani will finally be getting a traffic light. Okolani Drive will close first to Piilani Northbound and Southbound traffic. That will be Phase 1. Phase 2 Mikioi Place will close for Southbound and Northbound access. The project is estimated to take approximately 3 months. Work is scheduled to begin on February 27th.
