New High School In Kihei

The new high school in Kihei is scheduled to hopefully open for the 2021-2022 school year. The new school is being built on 77 acres at the intersection of Piilani Highway and Kulanihakoi Street. This school will be the first to have to drill wells for drinking water.

Once all the roads, plumbing, and grading have been completed construction of the school building can begin. To date, 5 bids have been submitted with rather large gaps between the highest and lowest bid. Expected to be built first are classrooms, a library, cafeteria, administration building, P.E. room, parking, and sports court and field. Upon completion, the school is expected to open to the freshmen class first and phase each class in thereafter.

We will keep you updated on any new developments that may arise throughout the construction.
