Park Maui’s new parking program at Kamaole Beach Parks I and III in Kihei will launch July 15 and is designed to prioritize Hawaii residents, according to The Maui News. The paved lots will remain free seven days a week for residents with a Hawaii driver’s license, while nonresidents will pay $10 per day, $50 per week, or $150 per month. The system uses license plate–based technology for ticketless parking, and on weekends and county holidays, parking in the paved lots before 10 a.m. will be reserved for residents, though the beach parks stay open to everyone. Kamaole II and the dirt lot across from Kamaole I are excluded from the initial rollout due to ongoing road repairs, with the dirt lot remaining free for beachgoers and nearby businesses until it’s later added to Park Maui, as reported by The Maui News.
