Bring your pets directly to Maui

Mid July Maui was officially approved to receive pets directly from the Mainland.  The Maui Humane Society has received this approval. Rumor has it  the first person to bring their pets in directly was Oprah Winfrey.  Not the best test as she comes in by private jet — but at least it gave the Humane Society a chance to “test” this out.
Please note to all of those interested in this.  There are some different requirements, i.e., they are requiring a 30 day notice of arrival (instead of 10 days to Honolulu) and also another form to fill out, I believe, referred to as a “NIP”, Neighbor Island Permit. So please contact the Dept of Agriculture  to check the exact requirements for neighbor island import.

Important fun news! Lahaina's Halloween Bash Continues!

For all you Lahaina Halloween goers,  Lahaina’s Front Street will again be closed October 31st and Maui’s Magical Halloween displaying all those unusual and innovative costumes will be enjoyed by all those who care to attend.  For those who dislike it, they can enjoy by not attending.  As many of you know this tradition came very close to not being allowed , but for the safety of all concerned it was decided to allow the street closer and have a controlled Lahaina Halloween celebration (it would happen one way or another).  Great decision!
